What's New: Windows XP End-Of-Life Plans

Microsoft plans to discontinue sales of Windows XP in six months, though PC builders like ITS can preinstall Windows XP through January 2009. Windows XP will be discontinued for all other channels (e.g., retail, volume licensing) on January 31, 2008. ITS will be able to install Windows XP on new PCs though January 31, 2009.

Interestingly, Microsoft has also apparently run out of license keys for Windows XP, and plans to release "Service Pack 2c" to system builders to preinstall on new PCs. SP2c allows the use of new, longer license keys.
