What's New: Botnet Gathered 68,000 Corporate Logon Credentials

Security researchers have just discovered a botnet that has compromised 75,000 PCs and 68,000 corporate passwords, at 2,500 companies and at least 10 government agencies. They found a one-month cache of data that was a massive 75 GB in size. The Wall Street Journal has reported that the highly-targeted attacks started as far back as 1998, with many systems being infected after users clicked on links in e-mail messages.

ITS continues to recommend that clients keep all PCs up to date with security patches for all common software to prevent malware from being installed.
