What's New: Adobe Warns of Flash Player Risks

Adobe Systems warned users Monday that it has identified several "critical" vulnerabilities in its Flash Player application that can allow a malicious web server to take control of a PC (Adobe now owns Macromedia). The problems affect all Flash Player versions 8.0.22 and earlier. The problems also affect Shockwave, Breeze, and other programs.

The security bulliten and links to download a fixed version of Flash Player version 8 can be found on Macromedia's web site.

Users with multiple browsers should remember to download the updated software from within both Internet Explorer and Firefox/Netscape/Opera, since the installer downloads separately!
