What's New: Keep BlackBerry Service On, DOJ Asks

In light of the bitter patent dispute over Research In Motion's BlackBerry device technology, the U.S. Department of Justice has asked a judge to ensure the service remains on for thousands of government workers. Virginia patent firm NTP has already won damages for patent infringement and the two sides are fighting over an injunction to prevent RIM from selling the devices or offering the service. In March the two companies announced an agreement whereby RIM would pay $450 million to NTP, however, the arrangement fell through with NTP claiming the agreement was never finalized.
