What's New: Adobe Warns To Update Acrobat Reader

After discovery of a security problem in Acrobat versions 7.0.8 and earlier, Adobe wants users to upgrade to 8.0 or install forthcoming patches. The vulnerability is in the Acrobat plug-in which lets users view PDF files in their web browser. When a users clicks a malicious link to a PDF file, the hole could be used to facilitate phishing attacks or to remotely access files on a computer.

For users that have older Windows versions and/or cannot upgrade to Acrobat 8.0, Adobe suggests disabling the PDF plugin in their web browser.
