What's New: Microsoft Security Updates Released

Microsoft has released the much-talked-about update for a recent Internet Explorer security hole, along with updates to several other programs, including Outlook Express, Excel, Media Player, and Outlook.

ITS recommends all users download the updates via Microsoft Update, and also use the "Custom" button to list all updates, since the "Express" button only downloads security updates Microsoft rates as "high priority," and skips bug fixes and other optional updates.

Microsoft commonly releases updates on the second Tuesday of every month, though (rarely) issues critical updates in between regular update cycles.
