What's New: Microsoft GPEI To Fight Phishers

Microsoft today announced a global anti-phishing strategy to work with law enforcement to crack down on cybercriminals who use phishing tactics to con users out of passwords and data about private accounts. The Global Phishing Enforcement Initiative (GPEI) plans to file 100 legal actions against phishers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa by the end of June. GPEI will better coordinate and expand on Microsoft's previous efforts.

According to InfoWorld and security firm Sophos, around 22% of business users receive at least five phishing e-mails per day. Fortunately ITS Web Hosting customers probably don't see that many, as our mail servers weed out suspected viruses and recognized phishing e-mails.
