What's New: Microsoft Promotes Business Software Features

Thursday Microsoft launched a new ad campaign promoting its "people-ready" vision for coming software upgrades. In a slew of product upgrades due out in the next one to two years, Microsoft will focus on linking people with technology and data.

At the event Microsoft demonstrated how Exchange Server 12 will allow users to access and control e-mail and calendar information via voice recognition, and showed how Outlook will add instant messaging.

Microsoft also announced that SharePoint Server 2007 is due out this year. SharePoint Server 2003 is a free add-on to Windows Server 2003 that allows companies to set up self-managed web sites for their departments, providing everything from discussion areas to file sharing and distribution.
