Should I archive my files to floppy disk?

In our experience, floppy disks are among the worst types of backup media. They were never designed for a long shelf life, and frequently begin magnetically deteriorating after a few years. With the price of hard drives now around $100 for a ten gigabyte drive, it is more prudent to simply upgrade to a larger hard drive than archiving files onto floppy disks.
