FrontPage: Accessing Your Web Site "Live"

Note: this page applies to old account types we no longer offer. We have left it up since it may be helpful for someone, since they get a decent amount of search traffic. All current hosting plans with a control panel use Plesk.

To use FrontPage to log into your server so that you can access your web site "live," perform the following steps. This capability is useful when editing a site from multiple locations.

The following steps were created using FrontPage 2003. Depending on the version you are using, the steps may be slightly different.

1. In FrontPage, from the File drop-down menu, click Open Site (Open Web in earlier versions; note this is not the same as the "Open" option).
2. In the Open Site dialog enter your domain name and click Open. Remember to use the full URL for your web site, e.g. http://www.teamITS.com. You may also use your IP address.
3. In the Connect to yourdomain.com dialog box enter your User name and password.
4. FrontPage will open your site and the Folder List will show all files in your site. Open a file to edit it. When saved, the change will instantly apply to your web site.
