Several laptop vendors are expected to announce support for Intel's chipset that supports WiMax in their laptops. WiMax is a method of high speed wide area wireless networking, similar to Wi-Fi but with a range measured in miles rather than yards. WiMax has been rolling out slower than expected but observers expect the installed base to grow. The new laptops are not expected to arrive until 2008.
