The Virtual Private Server (VPS) provides the power and flexibility of a dedicated server, with an expertly managed hosting environment. Managed Server	VPS is a managed hosting platform. From the start it has the latest security patches installed for all critical software such as the operating system and Apache web server. User-installed software such as PHP and MySQL is not automatically upgraded since there is a small chance that may impact your web site. Instead, as new versions are released, users can upgrade using a simple vinstall command. By contrast, a virtual dedicated server is typically unmanaged, meaning you would be responsible for all software maintenance and patching.
Backups	All servers have RAID and are backed up daily to disk. Files can be easily restored from the previous day's backup via the /backup "directory" or a shell program used to restore from tape or disk (a small fee may apply for tape restores).
E-mail Limitations	Each VPS runs its own mail server so there are no default e-mail limitations. You can configure limitations on message size, etc., if desired.
Technical Support	ITS provides US-based technical support. We value low-volume, high quality personal service so there is no massive call center to deal with.
Instant Upgrades	Upgrading or downgrading from one level VPS to another in the same family is instantaneous.

One powerful dedicated server is partitioned into a limited number of virtual servers. Each virtual server operates independently since the entire operating system and Internet services are duplicated for each account.

Each Virtual Private Server resides in a protected sandbox that also provides enhanced "fair share" technology, which protects the system resources allocated to each VPS. This is the best defense in preventing any single VPS on a physical server from abusing shared resources and, ultimately, it keeps your website and applications performing consistently.
