Netscape Navigator 7

This page describes how to configure Netscape Navigator 7 to access your POP e-mail box. For general information about POP e-mail, please see POP E-mail Accounts. To download Netscape see ITS StartCenter.

1. From the Netscape 7 Mail client, select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings... from the Edit menu.
2. Click the Add Account button in the left-hand column (this will start the new account wizard).
3. In the wizard, select the radio button for Email account and click Next.
   
   
   
4. Insert your name in the Your Name: field, and your E-mail address in the Email address field. Click Next.
   
   
5. Select the protocol you wish to use (IMAP or POP), and insert the domain name of your hosting account in both the Incoming Server and Outgoing Server Name fields, then click Next.
   
   
6. Your correct username should be displayed in the username field. If not, set it to use your POP3 Login and click Next.
7. Check to make sure the Account name field has the correct e-mail address and click Next.
8. Check the account information to make sure it is correct and click on Finish.
9. Scroll down the left hand list and click on Outgoing Server (SMTP). Under Server Name enter smtp.yourdomain.com, or you can use the SMTP server provided by your ISP. Some ISPs require you to use their outgoing SMTP server and block connections to other SMTP servers. If you find you are unable to connect to smtp.yourdomain.com, advanced users may try changing their SMTP port to either 587 or 5190 as alternates to the standard port 25.
10. If you use smtp.yourdomain.com as your SMTP server, click the Advanced button. Select your server and click Edit, or advanced users can add a second server. Ensure Use name and password is checked, and enter your POP login as the username.
11. Click on OK in the account preferences window.
